Apical Microsurgery

While Root Canal Therapy has a very high success rate, in some cases, teeth will require a surgical approach to treat. Endodontic surgery is a small and simple surgical procedure that can be used to locate small fractures or hidden canals previously undetected on X-rays during the initial treatment. Advanced technologies like digital imaging and operating microscopes allow these procedures to be performed quickly, comfortably, and successfully.

This simple procedure involves surgically exposing the end of the tooth and removing the infected tissues. The end of the tooth is prepared for a filling material and disinfected. Following disinfection, a biocompatible filling material is placed into the root canal to seal and fill the tooth. A few stitches or sutures are placed to help the tissue heal. Most patients return to their normal activities within a few days and post-surgical discomfort is generally mild.
